He is Risen!

Easter was a warm Spring day in Texas and we enjoyed a great weekend, complete with an Easter Egg hunt on Saturday and hosting the Niekirk's for dinner on Sunday. Henry was too excited to see a Cozy Coupe on the soccer field to pay much attention to the egg hunt, but still enjoyed it.

The best was that the Easter Bunny brought a lot of match box cars. The loot in the basket was probably a bit much, but a good time was had by all!

Visit with the Mosers

In April, Henry and I went to visit friends from St Louis - the Mosers - who were in San Antonio visiting Amy's sister. She and her 5 kids flew to TX for a week getaway and we were lucky enough to see them for a day. We all ventured out for a ride on the river walk and Henry definitely liked playing with all of the kids.

You can't get six kids to pose well together, but here was the best attempt. From left: Abby, Byron, Henry, Clara, Sophie and Bess (in stroller).

Papa and Meemaw

Henry affectionately calls Grandpa and Grandma Franke 'Papa' and 'Meemaw' and was excited when they came to visit for their Spring Break. We made the mistake of telling him the day before they came and he started putting his shoes on to go to the airport early.

We had a great visit, which included a visit to the zoo, lots of time in the backyard, trips to the park and a treat from the ice cream truck. Papa and Meemaw can come back anytime!

Chores

Henry is big into helping out around the house and is ready to lend a hand whenever he can. Last week it was with Dad in the lawn.

Go Bulldogs!!

We were able to enjoy Butler's second run to the Final Four since Houston was host to the tournament this year. Mark and our friend Scott Rawlings went to the Saturday game and we took Henry to the Friday practice. Henry had a great time...enjoyed seeing the bulldog and pep band (esp the buba, i.e. tuba) and shooting baskets outside. If only Butler could have won, it would have been perfect, but we are still proud at how far they got!

Rodeo 2011 Part Uno

Yeehaw! Today we ventured to the Houston Rodeo for the second year in a row. And boy did we have fun! Henry enjoyed so much more this year and if it weren't for naps, we could have spent the whole day there.

We started indoors at the petting zoo and the AgAdventure area. Here, they have a live birthing center (no animal births while we were there) and info areas on different animals. Henry liked it all, but really liked meeting Ms. Moo (cow character) and milking the cow. Thanks to 'Click Clack Moo', cows are a big hit right now (and if you haven't read this book, it is a must).

Rodeo 2011 Part Deux

The second phase of the day was spent outdoors in the carnival/midway area. It was such a gorgeous day, that you couldn't help but have a good time. It also helped that Henry met the height requirement for the rides, so we got to try them out. By far the favorite was the Super Slide, which we rode three times. We tried the airplane, but after I moved spots along the side and Henry couldn't see me, he wasn't a happy camper and they had to stop the ride so he could get off.

Henry was also a natural at the carnival games and even got some good carny loot. We also explored a butterfly house and then ended the day with lunch. A very good day was had by all!
